Design

Design

Design is where VSEC’s product-cybersecurity design tooling lives. The Tools → Design sidebar entry holds two tools — Item Definition and Threat Modeling — and a third, the Threat Library, is reached from elsewhere:

  • Item Definition — a canvas for laying out the assets in scope for a threat model, wiring up how they interact, and seeing VSEC’s confidence in each asset at a glance.
  • Threat Modeling — generates a TARA from a finished item definition (damage scenarios, threat scenarios, and attack paths), lands you on a worst-first risk list, and promotes the risks you accept into Risk Manager.
  • Threat Library — a library of attack steps, attack paths, damage scenarios, and threat scenarios for building threat models. This is a separate feature from the Design risk type in Risk Manager. It isn’t reached from the Design sidebar entry — open it from Risk Manager → Libraries → Threat Library or from the dashboard’s Threat Library widget.
Crosscheck, the automated TARA reviewer previously reached from this section, is currently unavailable — it no longer appears in the sidebar. See Crosscheck for details.

Permissions

Access to Item Definition and Threat Modeling is governed by the Design permission block. They appear in the sidebar only for users who have been granted Design permissions, and the Design block must be enabled for the workspace. Permissions are assigned by your workspace administrator.
